Noncompliance with Title III of the ADA may result in civil penalties of up to $75,000 for initial violations and $150,000 for subsequent breaches. Additionally, expenses can escalate due to court and attorney fees, along with the costs of making the website accessible. The year 2019 witnessed 2,256 lawsuits filed in federal court by individuals with disabilities regarding web accessibility issues. However, in 2020, the number of digital accessibility lawsuits surged to over 3,500 cases. This equated to nearly 10 lawsuits being filed every business day in the United States during that year. Moreover, 2020 marked the expansion of web accessibility concerns to encompass other digital platforms such as video accessibility, mobile apps, combined websites and apps, and mobile websites.
